22-01-2026 – Quintet of short-listings for the Community Rail Awards 2026
Bentham Line railway community groups are pleased to have been short-listed in five categories at the 2026 national awards.
Rail to Sail
A special event was held at Heysham Port on Wednesday 28th June when representatives of the Bentham Line (the Leeds-Morecambe Community Rail Partnership), the rail industry, Lancashire County Council and Lancaster City Council, and staff and Year 5 pupils from St Peter’s Church of England Primary School, Heysham, met together with Alice Rice, Terminal Manager for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, and the Mayor of Lancaster City, Cllr Roger Dennison.
20-04-Suzy the Sheep – Clapham Station
Leeds-Morecambe CRP welcomed pupils and staff from Clapham CofE Primary School, along with parents to Clapham station to receive the rail safety artwork.
19-11-Double unveiling- named train at Leeds and new artwork
The Leeds-Morecambe Community Rail Partnership (The Bentham Line) has now received Accreditation from the Department for Transport (DfT).

A train was named “The Bentham Line – A Dementia-Friendly Railway” by Peter Wilkinson, Managing Director of Passenger Services, Rail Group, DfT.
